Author Visits
Spark Students' Interest in Books!
Author Visits to Schools - Customize the Visit for Your Students!
Help support literacy education in your school, library, or other group by inviting a Julie to visit your school.
Large-Group Settings
Julie can speak to large groups of students about how an idea becomes a book or about the building blocks of a good story.
Coaching Smaller Groups of Students
As another option, Julie could work with middle grade students and coach them in their writing. In classrooms, or separated by grade level, the students and Julie could work together to improve writing and students' individual stories.
A Combination of Formats
Have Julie visit your school during the school day, and then invite students to return in the evening for a literacy event with Julie speaking to the parents and students.
Often after Julie visits a school to share with students about reading and writing, the children are bursting with story ideas, and teachers often find that their students have a renewed interest in reading. Julie has visited preschools, elementary schools, book stores, and conferences. Possible presentations include:

What teachers are saying:
"My Kindergarten children enjoyed meeting a real author! Julie did a nice job of showing them "Cheep, Cheep" and how the idea turned into a book. Her visit was a great kick-off for having them "author" their own books."
- Meg MacKenzie,
Teacher at Emmanuel-St. Michael Lutheran School,
Fort Wayne, IN
